Queerspiration from the L.O.U.D. Youth Group! – 2

July 11, 2018 in inQueery

Pacific Center’s L.O.U.D. Youth Group (Loving Ourselves and Uniting Diversity) has been celebrating Pride month by doing a variety of different artistic expression works.  In this series, we will post a sample of some of the writings that were produced by youth participants and facilitators.   Author names are not included to protect confidentiality.

Always I told you “This is girls only”
And you could leave
But couldn’t
Defend, pretend, ascend above
Summer to summer
An idol, an unrequited rival, a crush, my love?
Down in the heat
Living under time
Mentor to student, Counselor to campers
From the first of me to the last of you
Telephone tag across seven years
Maybe my first muse, not my last
An anxious sweaty, human dance, a recurring night terrorism
Underfed, binder too tight, façade
I wonder what year you knew
In comparison to when I figured it out
Darling, overzealous Juvenile body
Stuck claustrophobic on a wayward soul
Dazed, horrified to your eyes
Left without saying goodbye
Bugspray California
