In Case You Missed It: Gays on Ice

March 14, 2018 in inQueery

Figure skating has been having a moment this year.  The premier of I, Tonya brought the sport back into public consciousness.  A change of rules now allows Olympians to skate to music with lyrics (did you ever even realize that lyrics hadn’t been allowed?), which has modernized the performances.   And, this year’s Olympics gave new representation to LGBTQ athletes with the emergence of Adam Rippon.  In 2018, this established sport suddenly seems fresh and full of possibility.

In case you weren’t able to catch this year’s Olympics, watch Tyler Oakley interview Adam Rippon on skating techniques, competition, and Mike Pence.  I don’t know about you, but I kind of feel like I watched a first date… 🙂
