Front Desk and Outreach Team Volunteers
Pacific Center is always looking for Front Desk and Outreach Team volunteers.
Generally, Front desk volunteers serve as the first point of contact between Pacific Center and the community. Volunteers answer the door and phone, respond to emails, assist in admin and facility tasks, and help provide resources to people that reach out to Pacific Center.
Alternatively, Outreach Team volunteers attend events around the Bay as representatives of Pacific Center to provide information and resources to the community. They participate in tabling and events staffing.
Interested volunteers can participate in one or both programs. All volunteer shifts are typically 3-hours in length and require a minimum 3-6 month commitment, depending on the volunteer responsibilities. Most shifts take place between 9:30 am and 9:30 pm, Monday – Friday, Saturdays 9:30 – 4:30 pm. Successful applicants must complete an application, clear background check, and appropriate training.
Volunteer Training is conducted weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays. Volunteers receive ongoing support through individual and group training and Volunteer Appreciation events.

Skill-based Volunteerism and Internships
Pacific Center offers internship and long term volunteer opportunities to community members. These are opportunities to share your skills with our agency in valuable ways, mentor staff, or gain valuable skills yourself and build up your resume. We want this to be a mutually beneficial relationship. If you are excited about any of the following, you may apply here.
Outreach/Social Media Intern
Starts Summer/Fall 2017. Minimum 6 month commitment.
Development Intern/Donor Database Assistant
Starts immediately. Weekly 3-4 hr shift.
Must be available either Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, or Thursdays.
Minimum 6 month commitment.
Facilities Intern: Building Maintenance, Repairs, and Improvements Assistant.
Starts immediately. Flexible schedule. Daytime.
Some weekends. Minimum 3 month commitment.
Blog & Newsletter Intern: online blog, quarterly printed newsletter, and monthly e-news.
Flexible, self-determined. Must produce monthly content and attend monthly meetings.
6 month minimum commitment.
Pacific Center offers ongoing, drop-in, peer-facilitated groups on a range of topics and issues important to our communities. Groups are facilitated by a team of two or more trained volunteer facilitators who are peers to the other members of their group. In addition to the year-round facilitator training workshops, Pacific Center provides quarterly consultation meetings and individual supervision on an as needed basis.

Clinical Supervision & Didactic Training
There are a number of ways you can support the Pacific Center if you are a licensed clinician as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), a Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), or a Licensed Psychologist (PsyD or PhD). We hire 15-20 interns each year form the schools in the Bay Area and provide each of them with both an individual supervisor as well as group supervision. Many of our supervisors stay for several years consecutively, while some give us a year at a time when their practices allow. We match interns/trainees with the appropriate licensed clinician so that everyone seeing clients here is also working with a supervisor who acts as a mentor for the process of those entering the field.
In addition, one of the most important parts of our training program is the Didactic Trainings that take place every Monday morning for our clinical staff. The training calendar is complied on an annual basis and the trainings take place from October through May each year.
