Front Desk Volunteers

Raymond, one of our faithful front desk volunteers

Front desk volunteer serve as the first point of contact between Pacific Center and our clients, peer groups, youth, interns, staff and guests. Our volunteers provide important administrative support by answering the phone and door, responding to emails, notifying interns when clients arrive, greeting and generally assisting visitors with accessing resources and services.

Front desk volunteers also have the opportunity to assist with the many other needs of the organization, from caring for our plants to assisting with quarterly mailings.  Additionally, longer term projects and special projects are also available:

  • Administrative or data entry projects
  • Community outreach
  • Events staffing
  • Technical skill-based projects

Front desk volunteer shifts are 3-hours in length starting at 10am until the last peer group ends, typically 9:30 or 10pm, Monday through Friday. Trainings are offered weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Peer Group Facilitators

The Pacific Center offers ongoing, drop-in, peer-facilitated groups on a range of topics and issues important to our communities. Groups are facilitated by a team of two or more trained volunteer facilitators who are peers to the other members of their group. In addition to the year-round facilitator training workshops, Pacific Center provides quarterly consultation meetings and individual supervision on an as needed basis.

Clinical Supervision & Didactic Training

There are a number of ways you can support the Pacific Center if you are a licensed clinician as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), a Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), or a Licensed Psychologist (PsyD or PhD). We hire 15-20 interns each year form the schools in the Bay Area and provide each of them with both an individual supervisor as well as group supervision. Many of our supervisors stay for several years consecutively, while some give us a year at a time when their practices allow. We match interns/trainees with the appropriate licensed clinician so that everyone seeing clients here is also working with a supervisor who acts as a mentor for the process of those entering the field.

In addition, one of the most important parts of our training program is the Didactic Trainings that take place every Monday morning for our clinical staff. The training calendar is complied on an annual basis and the trainings take place from October through May each year. If you have expertise in any area applicable to therapists-in-training and enjoy teaching others or are interested in joining our team of supervisors, please contact us.
